What year was my Shopsmith made?

Post by wmkrahling »

I need some help from the brain trust. I have a couple upgrades in mind and some of my ideas comes down upgrading from what to what.

I know that has been asked before, but when I do the lookup it seems like this number is associated with a pre model 510, and the model no is a 555510 and her. no. 041889

When was it manufactured? At least what year?

Thanks in advance

They switched to date codes (on a sticker), instead of serial numbers (stamped on the vent plate) at some point,

Yours would be 04-18-89 April 18, 1989. :)

As Ron Said

The change to Date Codes occurred December 1987. There are some Date Codes that match earlier Serial Numbers but those Serial Numbers should have the letters prefix SS- before the serial number. These serial numbers that match date codes are between August 1981 and May 1982. Remember the differences, the Serial Numbers will be stamped on the vent plate and have the prefix SS-. The Date Codes are on a sticker on the Belt Cover, some are MMDDYY others are MM-DD-YY.
