SS 520 router table

I have just completed a router table jig for my SS 520. It has been a project I have wanted to do for several years. I stopped at an estate sale and found a JessEm router table insert, so no more excesses.

This is my version of a Shipwright design. If I am disremembering I apologize to whomever originally posted the design.

As a note: There are small bumps on the mounting bracket dwells so the jig cam locks over the tubes to keep the jig from moving during use.

Sweet! I especially like the sub-base configuration for the Original Incra Jig.

What’s that black thing that you have supporting the outboard table? In the pic, it looks like you’re using a floating table, rather than an aux. table with the mounting posts.

Looks good. What size/brand router were you able to fit and not hit the tubes below?

I think I saw the same thing when I first looked at this picture too. On giving it a second look, I believe he does have an auxiliary table in place. The picture is a little dark, so the shadows make it look like the auxiliary table tube is darker. Combined with the plastic knob above it from the fence rail makes it look deceptively like a different mount.

It looks great. I set out to do one similar to that a few years ago, but I wasn't lucky enough to have a table insert available. Then I looked in the garage and found that I had an old folding saw table that had a router insert. I decided to leave the router insert in the folding table and put my router into it as a stand alone router table. The table already had its own fence and miter gauge so I didn't need to make anything. I simply mounted my router under the table and went with that. If I wouldn't have had the old saw table sitting around, I would have done it similar to the way you did it. I expect you will like it the way you have it set up now.

The router is a 1hp Craftsman and the base is a Porter Cable. The craftsman base is sort of oval and does not fit the insert. The router fits between the tubes just fine. I mounted the router as far forward as I could.
