Mailing list sign up

Post by wrmnfzy »

How do you stop the mailing list sign up box from popping up all the time, other than signing up?

It should not pop up on the forum. If you go to the SS web site it probably will.

I find that it shows up on the forum for me only once every few months or so when my browser cookies expire. Once I close it, it stays away again for a long time.

I just click the x in the upper right corner and it goes away. I did sign up when I got my first SS, but within a couple of weeks they figured out that I was Canadian, and de listed me.

I keep checking the X but it keeps coming back. It comes back about every minute or every time I go from category to category. It has come up twice while typing this.

Interesting, I never get the signup window in the forum , only on the SS homepage.

You could try clearing all board cookies.

Also, some other things that might explain our different results

- I use the Subsilver2 board style

- I have an Ad Blocker installed in Firefox

I am using my IPad and just cleared all cookies but the form just popped up while I was typing this. Thanks for the replies.

We had a lengthily discussion about this a few years ago when SS started this thing. The consensus at the time was that it was OK for the web pages but not the forum. Also the same thing was occurring in that if you signed up the pop up still showed up. I thought admin had fixed the problem with the forum. Nobody has complained in a long time. I never get it in the forum either.

I do get it occasionally on the web site even though I am signed up but not all the time.

Shopsmith1 board style and Firefox with ad blocker installed here also.
