Removing the Table Tilt Lock Handle

How do you remove the tilt lock handle on a 500? The diagram shows a spirolox, but I can't see one, or at least I can't see the end of one (I don't actually have to do this - I'm just curious).

One way to do it, and this was on a Greenie (not sure if they are all the same, I definitely did not see or remove a spirolox on mine). I used a small open end wrench (5/16 IIRC) on the flat/unthreaded part of the stud that is normally in the groove of the front trunnion and screwed the stud out of the table support. More detailed steps:
Remove the two screws that hold the angle indicator plate in place.
Back off the table tilt lock as far as it will go.
Pull the front trunnion as far as it will go. (Maybe 1/4 inch or so.)
The part of the stud that you just exposed should be square. Just thread it out a bit with the wrench until it is loose enough to turn the rest of the way with the tilt lock.

I did this because my table had been hard to tilt since I got this SS, so I was actually removing the front trunnion. Cleaning up the pins and sleeves that form the tilt 'hinge' made a significant difference. If you take the tilt indicator off you need to re-align it after it is back together.

The part that needs to be removed is sorta peened in place so as to prevent it being loosened by the lock handle.

Removing it requires forceful rotation of the threaded parts. Reassembly requires reestablishing that peened condition.

I do not recommend removing it unless there is compelling need to do so.
