Desk Question??????

Post by reible »

Hi,

I was out and about a couple of weekends ago at a state park that was originally build by the CCC's sometime in the '30's if I recall correctly. We had first gone there maybe around 1976 and have visited on and off since then. The have a lodge and we have stayed there several time during these year.

One of the nicer memories was sitting in the great hall at these interesting desks... me on one side the wife on the other passing the evening with the smell of wood smoke.... and well you get the idea. So on our last visit I asked about the desks which have long since been out of the great hall. As it turned out they still had them and they were in another location.

I did have the camera along so I shot a couple of pictures. I had no paper or pen and no measuring devices so I could take any notes. So the question is has anyone seen plans or maybe have one of these for some dimensions??? Do you think this was a local design or something shared with other CCC projects? I'm guessing these date back to that time but maybe I'm wrong?

I'm not sure when we will get back there and this time of year I have to plan my summer projects one of which might be one of these desks.

The light works great, it is low enough that it stays out of your eyes... and well I really like the design. (That is not to say I will not change it some).

Ed,

If you take normal dimension of today I would have to say your table is somewhere around 36"x36x36". That is going by the tile carpet (8x8) on the floor and the (2x6) on the wall. You should be able to figure the rest out on what your own comfort or need.
