10 minutes to polish oxidized tubes.

Post by wml52 »

With the Covid-19 pandemic and the stay at home mandate I decided to do a little long overdue maintenance on my 510.

The bench and way tubes oxidized quite a bit and needed some TLC. I wanted to see if there was a better and quicker way to polish the tubes and after doing a little searching I came across a tube surface conditioner that was rather inexpensive on Amazon. I think I paid a total of $80.00 including the belts.

This is definitely the way to go, in all it took me a total of 10 minutes to get them looking new again. I've included a few before and after photos to show the difference.

Just wanted to pass along the info if anyone was interested.

Be safe!

This looks nice. Fyi I found a tube finisher attachment that mounts onto an angle grinder on Amazon. They sell one for M10 an another for M14 grinders.

Here is a link: https://www.amazon.com/nago0-Attachment ... B082D9MM4R

I saw those as well but was not sure it would fit my angle grinder. I also figured for the few extra dollars I would have a dedicated machine rather then having to remove the guard on my grinder to switch from angle grinder to tubing sander all the time. But the one you found would work just as well and it will save someone a few dollars.

Now that I have it I have found many uses for it.

What other uses did you find? For those of us trying to justify a new tool purchase... :-)

I agree with Ed, I can find the attachment on amazon, but not the whole tool anywhere in the $80 range. Do you have a link for us?
Thanks,
jeff
