Dust Collector Tool Storage

Post by Lodgepole »

Has anyone developed a storage system for the dust collector tools & hoses?

No use reinventing the wheel if someone already has.

Thanks.

 Great question! Mine are all over the place; quite unorganized. I hope we get some good input here.

I use a 2x4 screwed to the studs to act as a shelf, then I cut circles the size of the inside of the tubes and accessories glued them to the 2x4 and the accessories stand on the small shelf. I hang the hose from two large hooks under the shelf.

I also put several 1/2" dowels on the shelf about 2" apart and store the shopsmith rods, to prevent them from falling I also put a small piece of wood about 1.5" above the top of the tubes with dowels aligned with the ones on the shelf. To insert the tudes you insert the tops first then lower over the lower dowels.

I didn't do it but you could also store the 5' tubes this way if you have enough ceiling height.

You guys are great. I was thinking about storing the parts today. Now I have some ideas to work on.

No real system here - Since my shop is illuminated by hanging metal florescent fixtures, I just drape the extra vacuum hoses over the fixture that is most out of the way. At least that keeps me from walking on them.

There is always one hose on the DC 3300. When not attached to the Mark V I wrap it around the back of the DC,over the handle.

Paul: Thanks for the tip on storing the elbows, etc. They are now thrown in the top of an old metal tool chest. I think platform storage hung on a pegboard will work a lot better!:)

A wall type hanger for a coiled garden hose works quite well.
