for the front rail of a Model 520.
The magnetic tape no longer loads the steel rule secure to the tape. Has anyone replaced that magnetic strip and if so to what level of success.?
I assume it is attached by some sort of self adhesive. I don't want to scrap it off until I have a repair method.

Re: Magnetic Tape
How wide is the SS strip? I am not in the shop to measure. Amazon and Home Depot have self adhesive strip but the narrowest I have seen is 1/2". Memory says the SS strip may be slightly under 1/2".dusty wrote: Mon Jan 18, 2021 5:15 pm for the front rail of a Model 520.

Re: Magnetic Tape
The magnetic tape is 3/8" wide as is the shallow groove that it rides in. The steel tape is 1/2" wide which is part of the reason that it is so easily and accidentally removed.

Re: Magnetic Tape
Yes, I thought the magnetic strip was about 3/8" wide. Amazon has it but it is a 100' roll for $36. Probably a decent price but you don't need 100'.dusty wrote: Mon Jan 18, 2021 5:35 pm The magnetic tape is 3/8" wide as is the shallow groove that it rides in.
