Need advice

Post by ryanbp01 »

I have a Ridgid AC944 Miter saw stand with a broken handle, part#000900510049. The handle is made out of what appears to be pot metal and is no longer available. Does anyone know of a good substitute handle?

I did a quick search for that part number and 3D printed, etc. and couldn't find anything. Sometimes you get lucky and someone has a replacement. I found the text below from another forum and copied it here because it might help you. The dust chute on my old Porter Cable miter saw has disintegrated and they don't make it anymore. Some other miter saws have 3D printed versions available but it won't fit mine, so I share your pain in trying to find replacements to keep a tool running. I need to engineer my own replacement but haven't gotten around to it yet.

"This pot metal lever knob (829742) is a poorly designed piece of junk to begin with and now is no longer available with no replacements (thanks a lot Rigid). The quick fix is to use a 1/2" box wrench in place of the lever knob - you get the same functionality. Just remove the phillips screw holding the lever knob. Replace the lever knob with the 1/2" box wrench and replace the phillips screw. I use a cheap combo wrench from Harbor Freight and cut off the open end part of the wrench. Works great."
