Another new clamp to try. Put the order in tonight so it will be a few days before I see it. I went for the 10", would like to have seen that be 12" but still might be pretty useful.

The local Rockler store closed. Going to miss it. It would have been nice to go to the store and check the clamp out but now there is no way to do that. What I will miss the most is the wood bins for cut offs, and picking up baltic birch plywood as needed. There is still a Woodcraft but it harder to get to and not in my normal shopping zone.

Besides there were other stores the wife liked by the Rockler, none by the Woodcraft, bummer.

Nice clamps, but that spring in it is expensive. You can get clamps similar to this but without the spring for under $5.

I haven't had much opportunity to work with the clamp. I do like the idea and have often wished I had something like this style that is really a one hand clamp. I have maybe dozen or so of the quick-grip style clamps and use them often. I would not replace them nor buy a dozen of these spring loaded clamps but I can see having a pair of them.

I'm still making friends with the spring function. It will really snap closed hard and fast which is not always a good idea. You can "feather" the closure but it takes some finessing which I clearly haven't mastered yet. I'm sure I will. Some of this is also no doubt due to the cold of the shop this time of year.

I also wanted to mention the 10" number is really 10-1/2". So you still don't have 12" capacity which is not something that I face often so I guess for me it is not a big deal.

True, but the point is you can close the clamp on your stock with one hand and then apply pressure with the same hand.

Played with one in the new Rockler store here in the Tampa area. The idea is unique I noticed two things. 1. the thing slams shut. 2 the length is the clamp length plus the spring enclosure length. By that I mean on most bar type clamps the bar length remains close to the clamp size but these clamps have a spring enclosure that slides out. So you end up with the bar length plus the spring enclosure length.

Any of the ratcheting clamps are operated with one hand. You just have to make multiple cycles of your hand if they don't have the spring to close down on the first hand cycle. And, you can have about 4 or 5 of the non-spring ones for the price of one with the spring. That is significant if you have need for lots of clamps.
