Of course there should be visiting time. Some of these are easier to do in person, but several could be done virtually too.

Just some ideas tossed out there.
Marc - I really appreciate your interest and your thoughtful response. These are the first constructive suggestions for content, and I think they cover some great topics!

I’m going to get some feedback from Shopsmith Inc. on their interest, and we can start to get a outline of what this event might look like.

Yeah, I’ve been looking for knowledgeable SS woodworkers and equipment restorers since MickyD asked me if I would take care of his babies last May, but I ended up here, so I’m still looking. :D

Thank you to those who have viewed and provided helpful response to this thread. Since the basic direction that an in-person celebration event could take will clearly be influenced by Shopsmith Inc’s participation, I’ve reached out to their management to discuss their potential interest in some level of collaboration.

I have a call arranged with them next week for this discussion, but to prepare for this, I really need a lot more input from the group here. Please let me know what sorts of sessions should be included that would make you interested in participating (either in-person or virtually). Things like:
  • Product demonstrations
  • Product development roadmap discussions
  • Shopsmith techniques workshops
  • Vendor fair (for purchase of products to use with your Shopsmith)
  • Shopsmith history presentations
  • Expert panel discussions
  • Your idea here!
The more input I can get, the more we can make this an event that is beneficial for the entire community. Thanks for your support, and I look forward to your responses.

I have reached out to Nick Engler, and he is opting not to participate in an event in conjunction with Shopsmith Inc. at this time.

I'd be fine with a visit to the factory and a chance to hang out with you guys. I certainly hope the company makes an effort to celebrate the date, it is a great marketing opportunity for them as mentioned previously and they might attract many current and potential Shopsmith owners to an event like this.

If nothing else we can order stuff and pick it up there to save on shipping ;)
