10ER Lower Saw Guard

Post by jsburger »

This is probably the rarest of the 10ER accessories. They are all but non-existent.

My wife and I have been on a road trip since Monday. Today (Thursday) we arrived in Durango CO. I have my lap top but hadn't checked eBay until today at about 2PM. What do I see? A 10ER lower saw guard for a Buy it Now price of $39.99 and $17.00 shipping. I did a double take and couldn't click the buy button fast enough. It had been listed for over 4 hours.

That completes the collection. I have at least one of all the Model 10 accessories.

Nice find John. I am still waiting to find a Lower Belt Guard to complete my collection.

jmoore65,

If you cannot wait to see a picture of John's new acquisition to see what they look like, below is a picture of my Model 10 Lower Saw Guard. It has been painted to match my Model 10ER but I know John's will end up looking just as pretty.

Thx for the picture. I’m hoping for some additional views as I’m thinking about making a 3d model and printing one for my 10er. :)

An ebay feature allows you access to 'sold' listings. Three views of John's: https://www.ebay.com/itm/234623963143?h ... 7675.l2557

jmoore65,

I don't recommend this Lower Saw Blade Guard for actual use. In the picture from my previous post notice it has a rectangular saw dust discharge hole which is not very good for dust collection. Mine is strictly for display and not actual use.

For a Lower Saw Blade Guard when using the Model 10ER I have the set from Shopsmith for the Mark 5, part numbers 505627 and 505628 which is the metal upper and lower set shown in the first picture below. The complete set can be used on the Model 10's or just the lower guard as shown in the second picture below with the Model 10's standard upper guard. Using P/N 505628 for the lower guard give you a 2-1/2" round dust collection port. Do note the change in how the arbor is set up for the saw blade to allow better clearance from the guard edge.

Well, it arrived on schedule and is just as pictured in the eBay listing. Now a trip to the bead blaster and a fresh coat of paint.
