Scroll saw casters

Post by bills2008 »

Evidently Shopsmith doesn't sell the castors for the scroll saw any longer. Can anyone tell me if a set of casters from a Shopsmith 500 will work? Or where I can get a set of casters for the scroll saw?

Yes. All SS MK5/V castors are the same. The difference is in the mounting hardware. Things like the power station and the SPT power stands require the addition of spacers that came with the castors for the given application. In most cases the stand legs were drilled correctly and only required spacers. The Scroll Saw stand is different. The legs are not wide enough to accommodate both castor screws. It required spacers and an adapter plate. I made my own adapter/plate. They are made from 3/4" Baltic Birch plywood. The 3/4" worked perfectly for the spacers.
