Wow! Fire sky!
Re: Utah Winter Sunsets
It has been snowing for 4 days. Off and on down here in the valley. Any where from 3 to 4 feet in the mountains of the Wasatch front just 15 miles to the east of me. It cleared tonight but more snow tomorrow.

Re: Utah Winter Sunsets
Pretty nice sunset tonight after a big snow storm over the weekend. Many of the ski resorts got between 3 and 4 feet of snow. The state wide snow pack is 170% of normal and many areas are at 190%. The long range forecast is for above normal precipitation for January. Great for the drought if it keeps up.

Spectacular sunsets. I'm curious how far away those mountains on the horizon are.

No sun here today, but the trees have a liberal dose of hoarfrost this morning.

They are on the west side of the Great Salt Lake. They are about 40 miles as the crow flies.

Down here in the valley where I live, elevation 4200', we don't get a lot of snow usually. The mountains is where it counts for our water supply. The Wasatch front is 15 miles east of me. The peaks are 7000' to 9000' along the front range. That is where the snow falls. The ski areas just east of Salt Lake City (15 miles) got 3 to 4 feet of snow from this storm while Salt Lake City got about what we got here.
Snowbird ski resort is about 20 miles from downtown Salt Lake City. Hidden Peak summit at Snowbird is 11,000 feet. They got 47 inches of snow from this storm and average 500 inches a year.
