10er Belt sizes

Post by rbenstead »

Would someone share the belt sizes for a 10er with a speed changer?
Are they like a 4L250 as a example?

The original belts were 22 1/2 and 25 1/2. That would be a 4L225 and 4L255, but they are no longer available in 1/2" increments.

So 4L230 and 4L260 would be a substitute. *

A good source http://mkctools.com/10erparts.htm

Scroll down to the belts.

Thanks for the info, and welcome to the Forum!

I just ordered two of each length for my machines. To make it a little easier for anyone else who sees this thread to order the belts, here are some direct distributor links:

Biedler's Belts MRO Supply I ordered the Gates belt from Biedler's Belts before I discovered that MRO Supply also carries them. MRO offers free shipping, and thus a lower overall order cost.

rbenstead,

As has already been pointed out the original Speed Changer belts were 22 1/2 and 25 1/2. That would be size 4L225 and 4L255 belts. Size 4L220 and 4L250 belts are the general substitutes. This is if you have the recommended 1/2 HP motor from A. O. Smith or a similar size motor. Different motors have different distances from the mounting plate to the motor shaft. A motor with a longer distance from the mounting plate to the shaft may need a different size belt. The same would be true for a motor with a shorter distance, although I have not seen a motor with a shorter distance between the mounting plate and the shaft.

You may find the attached Speed Changer speed chart useful. I keep a trimmed, laminated copy on my Model 10ER.
