Does anyone know which bearings in the Mark V were originally shielded and which were sealed? Mine is a 1986 510. Currently the button bearing (which I replaced) and the double bearing quill are shielded, the two drive sleeve bearings and the idler shaft bearing are sealed type. The drive sleeve bearings look like they to have been replaced, the idler shaft bearing may be original (and still turns smoothly and quiet). I’d like to go with the original design when I replace the worn out ones.
Thx.

Re: Another Sealed or Shielded Bearing Question
IMO Sealed are preferable when being used in a dusty environment. The SS creates that environment.
I believe all were shielded originally(oem).

Ok, thx JPG
Re: Another Sealed or Shielded Bearing Question
For my part, I stayed with shielded bearings for most of my system, but in the bandsaw I went to sealed bearings inside; they seem to have cut down the "zinging noise" in a helpful way.
