I've paid less for Greenies in that condition. What other parts and accessories are coming with it? If you have another 500 type machine with a miter gauge and saw guards then you may not need the rest of the stuff. If you're trying to make another complete machine to sell or whatever then the cost of obtaining other parts to complete it may eliminate it's remaining value. Depends on the local market though.

Re: Mark V for Sale close to Home
Having the Bandsaw increases the value of the total purchase. Other accessories if any would be helpful. Restoring the Mark 5 will take a lot of work and some expense. Hopefully restoring/refurbishing the Bandsaw would not be too costly. New tires and maybe Guide and Backup Bearings plus a bit of rust removal is hopefully all it needs. If the Lower Wheel Bearing is bad that would add a lot to the costs. I don't know what Bandsaws are selling for in your area but here $200 might be what you could get for it refurbished. Used Shopsmith Tools are not selling very fast here right now.
I restored a Mark 5 Greenie that I got for free. It came with a Jointer and Jig Saw. I spent about $500 restoring the Mark 5, over $100 on the Jointer and about $50 on the Jig Saw replacing damaged and missing parts plus supplies. I resold them after they were restored and made back my investment plus a little extra. Still wish I hadn't resold that Jointer but that's another story.

That was kind of my thinking about the bandsaw was worth the money.chapmanruss wrote: ↑Tue Oct 01, 2024 2:17 pm Having the Bandsaw increases the value of the total purchase. I am glad I pulled the trigger on this deal.
I made a New Friend and found out that (Seller's) son is into Chevy Trucks.
So, the (Sellers) son was the one helping him sell this.
I may see them at The truck show this weekend close to both of us.
He is cleaning his shop out that Was his (The Sellers) Daddy's shop.
He Stated that his Daddy saved everything/ down to the smallest piece of wood.
This Machine was bought new by his Grandpa.
They had gotten rid of a lot of stuff /I could tell.
He said he is trying to make room so him and his son can do Mechanic work.
We swapped phone # and I showed him a few pictures of what the SS stuff looked like.
After the history story of this Machine/ I could not resist.
It is Defiantly a Diamond in the Ruff.
Out of the 7 machines / Besides the Mark VII (Old One) this one of my Favorites.

Re: Mark V for Sale close to Home
The Mark 5 doesn't look too bad. A bit of rust on the Bench Tubes but the Way Tubes look good. The Bench Tubes need to be re-aligned.
The Bandsaw was made in November 1978. Other than a little sawdust caked inside it looks like it could be ready to run.
