Newbie woodworker question

Post by stephencody »

Hello,
I just started doing woodworking after a friend of mine made a stand for me and thought I would give it a go. My question is in regards to my new Warrior miter saw. I leveled the blade to 90 degrees, leveled the back guide support to the blade, 90 again, using a L-square. But when I cut, the 2x4 is cut at a .20 degrees. The starting cut (left side in the image) is exactly at the size I need while the bottom (right side of the image) is off.

What is happening that is causing this? And how do I remedy it?

Well squaring 2 out of three axis simply does not guarantee squareness in the third.

The 2x4 is probably not flat on the side you put down on the miter saw. Maybe on none of it's sides.

The original post is an exact copy of one on reddit, posted about a month ago. As this one is the first post by a new member, it's probably spam.

Should anyone actually need the requested info, the replies on reddit are quite good.
