I put a rubber grommet in the tension adjusting hole in mine to hold a short hex key in it ready to use.GetterDone wrote: ↑Sat Sep 14, 2024 12:03 am Almost finished with this bandsaw update that will go with this Mark V.
I got a Plug ordered for the access hole / My idea is a MacMaster plug .
I will drill the hole once I get the plug I ordered in hand.

Re: Restoration of Mark V / produced on 11/84
Working on putting it back together.
I liked the idea of Bluing the parts that a member here done on their Restoration.
I just ordered the wrong stuff.
The search sent me down the Rabbit hole.
I done a Duck Duck search, and it said it will be Okay.
We will see.
Here is before Pictures 1ST attempt.
I will post after pictures.
It looked okay when I set it down to go inside for the night.

FWIW, the quill is NOT aluminum.
I think the rust spots need to be removed first.

Re: Restoration of Mark V / produced on 11/84
Yeah
That why I stated that I ordered the wrong Stuff.
I should have taken pictures of when I used Scotch Brite on it.
I cleaned it well.
It looked a Lot better after coated with this stuff.
I think it will need a Second coat as things always do.
I will order the stuff for Metal also because I liked how this worked,
I will post pictures of first coat for Example.
Here is the Research of is it okay to use Aluminum Blackening kit on steel.
Yes
Yes, it is okay to use an aluminum blacking kit on steel1. The steel must be thoroughly cleaned and scuffed before applying the
Eastwood Metal Blackening System

A little more Progress.
I cleaned the handles and Dial for the Quill this evening.
I used an Ultra Sonic cleaner with Pine sol in it.
I filed some of the casting off after the cleaning.
This was this first trip in the Ultrasonic.
This Is after the second trip to the Bath and some small deburring.

A little bit more cleaning.
Before the Ultra Sonic cleaner.
During the cleaning (30 minute Check)
After 1 hour at about 100 degrees in pine-sol solution.
