I installed my Carter Bearing upgrade today. One thing I noticed is when I set my table to 45 degrees the top outside corner of the lower Carter guide bearing housing protrudes into the round blade opening and won't allow the center zero clearance insert to set all the way back down into the table. I can grind away part of the backside of the insert and make it work as the guide housing does not proceed past the top of the table but before I did that I wanted to be sure I installed correctly. The lower guide bearing assembly is mounted with the bearings on top. Is this correct? Carter sends no instructions with the parts.
Thanks
Jack
reible wrote:The question has come up about blade size and the carter guides, I use mine down to 1/4", I have no blades in 3/16" size so I would have to pass on answering if they would work. When I get to 1/8" or 1/16" I switch to my other carter Stabilizer Guide which is made for that size of blade and for doing the cutting you want to do with that size blade. See here:
For additional information on the carter guides and more explanations you can do a search for carter guides and if you want just my posts add reible to the advanced search.
When you installed the carter stabilizer and used the 1/8 or the 1/16 blade, did you make any adjustments to the tracking? I recently installed the carter stabilizer on the band saw and the 3/16 blade is tight against the carter bearing.
Will be interesting to see if a reply from a 9 yr old post is forthcoming.
