Re: Were retractable casters an option?
Hmm. Looking at the current website I see most pics of the Mark 7 with the premium casters, but some with no casters. There's a note that says "premium casters not included" which, if we weren't having this discussion, I'd assume that premium casters are an extra cost option, otherwise you get standard casters. I would never think that you'd get NO casters! Certainly a tool which boasts the benefit of a small footprint that you can move it out of the way when not in use would come with wheels on it standard!

HopefulSSer,
For the cost of a Shopsmith Mark 7 or V 520S you would think they could include the Retractable Castors. I checked my copy of the Mark 7 Manual and no mention of casters in the parts or assembly sections. I stand by my earlier statement that the Retractable Castors are and have been an extra accessory. In checking the online catalog today, I cannot find the standard 2" Retractable Assembly for sale any longer. I could have missed it. The Premium Convenience Packages now have the 3" Retractable Castors.

I couldn't find the "standard" 2 in. casters either. Which makes it a bit confusing if the so-called "premium" casters are the only casters available, then they aren't really premium any more, they're just the casters. "Premium" (to me) implies a comparison to something, and if they are the only ones available then they are not in comparison to anything else currently offered.chapmanruss wrote: ↑Tue Nov 05, 2024 1:26 pm HopefulSSer,

And as you say, for the cost of the machine, and as I mentioned -- the sales pitch of being small footprint and of a nature to tuck it away when not in use, perfect for a small garage workspace -- it should come with wheels! Hence my original question - I naturally assumed that of course it comes with wheels now (how could it not?) so was there a time that it didn't? Turns out that time was this morning!
