Hole saw, anyone?

Post by WoodChuckWoodChuck »

Where can I get parts for a hole saw? I got mine from a yard sale and there is no indicator as to who made it. Now I need the adapter, extender, and the arbor. What are the technicalities that I should consider so that I can make sure it'll work with what I have.

That could be tough. Hole Saw Arbors vary greatly. There can even be more than one Arbor from the same manufacturer depending on the size of the Hole Saw. The ones I have are two main types. One is an Arbor that simply goes through the mounting hole In the Hole Saw kind of like a saw blade. Those can vary by the diameter of the mounting hole and if it is a round mounting hole or one with flat sides. Some may have additional support parts. Don't forget the pilot drill bit if used should extend a bit out of the Hole Saw itself. Another is a threaded Arbor that screws into the mounting hole which is threaded.

You could look for Hole Saws that are similar to yours to find the best fit. That is if you are going to use that size of a Hole Saw. If not, I wouldn't bother going to the trouble of finding an Arbor for it.
