I see there have been additional comments sparked since my post yesterday. It's great to see these comments and hopefully they help shape where Shopsmith as a company will go.

One of the other takeaways from the video was the dropping of shipping costs added to smaller purchases. I agree it was a smart move not only as a savings to Shopsmith customers but those selling used parts on eBay, for example, who sell their stuff just under the cost of new are not a value any longer with eBay shipping costs added. I have long recommended checking the factory price including shipping against buying used. Even when Shopsmith charged shipping buying new from them was sometimes cheaper than the combined price of item and generally higher shipping cost through eBay. All that being said some items should not be purchased used if available new. This includes parts that wear or as another example, sanding products that degrade with age. I recall a recent discussion about older sanding belts coming apart at the glue joint. I am not saying that there isn't a need for the used market. In my restorations I frequently need parts that are no longer available from Shopsmith new especially for the Model 10 restorations I do. Lastly, it isn't the best value to buy a used arbor instead of a new one when the total cost to you of that new one can be lower.

Something not discussed in the interview is the unavailable documents as listed on the Manuals and Instructions page. I hope Shopsmith solves this problem soon. I do give them kudos for making many older and smaller instruction documents available as PDF for free. It is probably a cost savings for them in many cases to do so as opposed to printing and shipping them.

It will come down to this. I'm not thrilled with every change to the product that may be needed but I'd rather the company stay alive and profitable.

Just wanted to take a moment and say Happy Thanksgiving to everyone. On this Thanksgiving, I am thankful that Shopsmith still exists as a company, in whatever form will allow it to thrive as a company. I am thankful to Nick and the investors that make this possible. I am thankful to the Shopsmith employees (past, present and future). I am thankful to all of the forum members (past, present and future) that have made this forum an invaluable resource for all things Shopsmith. Lastly I am thankful to my Dad for getting me started in woodworking, and eventually on Shopsmith, all those years ago as a kid. IF you are smoking a turkey this holiday, I sincerely hope you got it in the smoker already. I am usually up around 2AM on, so it was no problem for me to get mine on the smoker this morning to have it ready in time for lunch. Once again I hope all of you have a wonderful Thanksgiving. Take care.

P.S. I know someone will complain that I posted this here and not in a new thread, but in my opinion, this is the most relevant place to post it given everything referenced.

Thank you, RF Guy. In the Shopsmith realm I believe we have plenty to be thankful for.
