Replacement parts ordering

Post by JC10225 »

Ordered new headstock just after Hurricane Helene, was told 6weeks wait. Reluctantly I said yes. Now 6 weeks later , I'm told late March 2025. What a load of XXXX.

JC10225,

First off welcome to the Shopsmith Forum.

I understand your frustration. Apparently, October was a much bigger sales month than expected. Not trying to make excuses for Shopsmith but just passing along something I know of.

What Headstock version did you order? Was it the Power Pro like the Mark 7 or the conventional Headstock of the Mark V. There are options if you don't want to wait. If you are looking for a conventional Headstock you could try the used market. They come up for sale regularly. If you are looking to get a Power Pro Headstock you could see about getting the DIY kit and buy the used Headstock shell plus a couple additional parts not included in the DYI kit and put it together yourself. That may have a delay also getting the DYI Power Pro Kit as another Forum member has recently reported a delay getting one because of a single unavailable part in the kit.

I am in the same boat as JC10225. Wanted to upgrade my older unit to the latest headstock so I ordered on mid October, Paid full price and have waited patiently until now. After two calls this last week, I was notified that it would not be ready until "march or April'. That is an unreasonable delay. I cancelled the order. Would love to have the upgrade, but it seems out of line to tie up my funds for 6 months when the product is not ready to ship. They need to have some on hand before they sell them in my view.

As I remember in the past SS did not charge your card until the item shipped. Has that changed under the new ownership?

I agree w/jsburger. I would be very surprised if they6 charged your card before it shipped. Maybe the mothership can chime in on this?
