Re: Everything Mark 5 / V - Technical info, documentation, links
Good afternoon JPG,
I picked up a shopsmith at the town dump recently. Needed to reverse engineer the power plant lock to get it from moving down the rails. Question, just bought some sanding parts from Shopsmith and a instruction manual but none of the Mark V model 500 or Mark V model 510 pats match my machine.
The red disc has Model ER serial no. ER35189. wish to find a shop manual to learn about the RPM speeds and set ups.
Thank you
Hartley

Sorry JPG,
I have been out of the loop on this one.
I would advise them to follow the link at https://www.shopsmith.com/ss_forum/view ... 90#p185690
Find the My Google Drive link just after the first four PDF's and find the Fully Restored 10E and 10ER manuals under the 10E& 10ER folders. You can download them and find a good bit of other information on the 10E and 10ER's.

Here is a challenge for the group (from the SS rookie)!
I found a Mark 5 for sale and I asked the seller for a picture of the serial number (see attached pic). Base on the s/n documents & charts I found in this forum, 347857 was built in 1957. Looking at the picture from the add, there is what looks like a sticker with 'Model 510 R'. Does this mean this unit a greenie that was upgraded to the 510 table? It sure looks green to me???
Thanks for any/all feedback!!!

Yes. The 510 upgrade came with that sticker. See this thread about 510 table compatibility: viewtopic.php?t=36356

Thanks edma194!
That also explains the last Mark 5 that I acquired. It didn't have the sticker but did have the 510 table upgrade. I now understand that for any used SS, there could be lots of different combinations to determine it current state. Amazing to me that were are so many, but that shows how well and backward compatible these systems can be.

Re: Everything Mark 5 / V - Technical info, documentation, links
Hello, I am not sure where to post this. Please delete it or move it as necessary,
None of the links on this page work, except one I found that led to non-shopsmith web page. I get either a "Secure Connection Failed" error or a 404 page not found error. I have also found that a number of other subject threads do not have links that work. I am new to the forum and so badly want to reach the links shown at the top of the page.
Thank you,
Paul

Speed Reducer Belt Size
Hi, this is just for anyone's future reference.
In Sept 2025 I ordered and received a set of speed reducer belts from Shopsmith. They are a matched pair of Bestorq brand belts, size 5F2048. To ensure you get a matched set, I would recommend getting them from Shopsmith for as long a SS makes them available. They are not on the SS website -- you have to call customer service to order. The SS number is: [515988] Speed Reducer Matched Set Speed Belt Assembly
Included in my SS order were two 6" zip ties, I presume as an assembly aid. I don't know how you would use them and didn't need them myself.
