The head of the bolts that mount the motor to the housing are inside of the housing and all four are there. Soon after I posted this the better half came into the shop and asked if I had started on another cedar chest for her, she said she smelled the cedar shavings soon as she opened the door. Told her to be patient just trying out the repair job.
Glad you got it working. I love my Shopsmith planer (Mark V mounted one). It is a pain to lift it on and off the waytubes, but I still love it. It has worked very well for me for many years. Only complaint, other than lifting it, that I have is I wish the height capacity was a bit more.
Sooooo get some longer acme thread elevator bolts.(and a flexible drive shaft...)
Great it is returned to duty! Good use of minimal patience.

I just did some over due maintenance on my pro planer. I re leveled the table to the tie bar, sharpened blades, cleaned and waxed everything and it is working great. My question - is there any maintenance I should be doing with the motor or the feed motor other than blowing saw dust out and cleaning the gears. Does either motor require any oil or lubricant? Sharp blades make all the difference, should have done this a long time ago.
Some Motors have sealed bearings while other do have oil ports for the bearings. Check on the ends of the motor over the shaft to see if it has an oil port.

No, I never could find one and fortunately my hoarding instinct finally paid-off in that I had a complete spare motor that I was able to swap out. That said, if one of these days I ever develop my CAD skills I'll take a stab at 3D printing a complete brush holder and cap. Scott
