Is there a reason you opted for an epoxy joint, perhaps the width of one jaw of the vice isn't wide enough to accommodate
these brackets?
I just didn't think of it !! :o

Now that you suggested this, my only question is will screwing the bracket to the bottom of the fixed jaw be a strong enough union when the vice jaws are clamped tightly together? Someone should give this a try....and let us know....

He called me too!! Completely unexpected but very welcomed.

The springs compress down to a final span of 1". You will need to countersink this amount into one of the jaws in order for the vice to close completely.

When you are laying out the drill holes for the threaded rods, plan ahead which jaw will have the recess for the compressed springs.
I chose the mobile jaw, but it could be either. Rob has 3 Moxon build videos on his channel, each with a slightly different strategy for mounting the components.

Also, I forgot to mention I used a round-over bit on the inside of the mobile jaw to reduce binding when the vice racks. Worked great.

Here is a photo of the back side of the mobile jaw, showing the nearly 1" deep countersink to accept the compressed spring, and the roundover. The copper bushing mounted on the front face of the mobile jaw is also visible.

When you are done, post some photos please.

Still finding more uses for mine....

Thanks for this info. I could not figure out from his videos the depth of the hole for the springs, I was going to wait until the instructions & hardware arrived (Monday 6/16).

Really appreciate that and the other tips you’ve provided.

Thanks again…… Steve
