I found this older post from Alan. Has he been back on the forum since the forum came back with the new owner?
I still check in occasionally. I have been doing less woodworking for a variety of reasons and haven't seen any topics where I could add anything of value to the discussion.
Alan,

Thanks. Always enjoyed your contributions here. Hope you are doing well. Take care.

Well as a newbie here this was an Interesting read. I personally have 4 disc with different grits mounted to them. Just bought them with a Mark V so have not used them. From the comments here I don’t think I will be using them anytime soon.

Here's one not in the PTWFE. A dozen plus years ago, while building my first CNC, I used the disc as a hand wheel to tap a bunch of holes in the ends of 80/20 extrusion. I had the tap in the drill chuck, the extrusion flat on the table. Sure beat trying to tap by hand, although as I recall my shoulder was a bit sore for a few days after.

That is certainly different. I expect it worked quite well.

Yes, it worked very well. Probably reduced the time needed by a couple days in one of the hottest summers in OK.

Many times I've had a wide miter-edge on a board that I did not like cutting exactly (whether on bandsaw or table saw). But, knowing the ease and safety of perfecting such miter edges with the disc-sander, I am happy to rough-cut first on the bandsaw, and tune to perfection with the disc sander.

I made a 2 x 4 handle for mine and used it to finish drywall.
