Pictorial progress of entertainment center
I have attached photos of a vanity I just completed for a customers home addition. I am starting on a rather involved entertainment center that goes with it. I plan to post pictures of the process as well as some of my own tips and technicians for those that are interested. During this process I would like tips and technique advice for those of you more experienced with the whole picture taking posting process as I continue to struggle in that area. The photo equipment that I use is a point and shoot Panasonic DMC-FZ18 8.1 mega pixel and photo fun studio on the computer. I chose this particular camera because it has the widest angle lens at 28mm. I am sure the problems I am having are not the equipment but the operator. For starters I cannot take a picture with the camera held sideways and get the picture to post correctly.
The attached photos of the vanity were resized in my photo studio to the maximum allowed size of 800x600.
I will keep all future post on this project in this thread and all advice in the photo process will be greatly appreciated. This should be a fun thread and we will even us some Shopsmith equipment along the way.
Thanks
Mark

Regarding your photo "issues"... is your computer running XP or Vista? If you're using XP there was a PowerToy that you can download from Microsoft's web site that is a real nice image resizer that works simply and you don't have to load the images into any kind of other program to resize. For whatever reason, they did not create a similar PowerToy for Vista, however I have found a free download utility for Vista that works similarly. If you're using Vista and are interested in it, let me know and I'll dig up the download link.
The photo / fax viewer that comes in Windows allows you to rotate the images to the correct orientation before uploading.

You may have to "re-save" the picture after you rotate it or else the image is just presented differently on the screen but original in your hard drive.mbcabinetmaker wrote:Tom
I do have Vista. I can rotate the pictures anyway I want with my photo studio but they still come out the exact way the camera was held when uploaded. The whole thing makes no sense to me.
Thanks

Mark, not sure about your "Photo Studio" software, but if you use Windows Photo Gallery that comes with Vista, which should be the default application for JPG files, you can rotate them in it, and they will remain rotated and display rotated when uploaded. You should ALSO be able to rotate the image simply by right-clicking on the image icon and selecting Rotate Clockwise or Rotate Counterclockwise options from the pop-up menu. Check the screen capture below.mbcabinetmaker wrote:Tom

Mark, et all...
Here's a link to an Image Resizer PowerToy replacement for Vista, operates just like the one did in XP. Just right click on the image(s) and select Resize Image from the pop-up window. Will resize multiple images with one selection too.

Thanks pkni, tdubnik, tom and anyone that may post while I do.
I will explore all that good advice when my wife gets home and can help me. She can show me where to find things but could not figure out the problem either. I am mostly self taught on this thing having figured out how to turn it on in 2006, the same year that I joined this forum. If you look up self taught in the Websters it should say he or she that has learned form many many mistakes. I am also mostly self taught in woodworking (mannnnnny mistakes).
Now I will try to attach a crude drawing that I did on turbo cad. Remember my computer skills but it should give a general idea of what we are building.
Also have some shots from the job sight that I will try to explain, we are building wall to wall 10 ft wide and 9 ft tall but the right hand side has a wing wall that sticks out 7.5 inches. There is also a weight bearing header to deal with. This room is an exercise room addition to a home. I have a Schwinn tucked away upstairs and bump my head when I get off. Maybe if I had a wide screen TV as we are preparing for I would exercise more.
Now for the Pics
Mark
PS pkni I an not finishing these pieces as the home owner has other work in the house to refinish. They are using a local painter to do it all. I have worked with him before and he does good work.
