Band Saw Tire Replacement

Post by johnmccrossen »

I am looking for any ideas or suggestions for removing the old contact cement from my bandsaw wheels. I am changing over to the urethane tires and it's really a struggle to get the old glue off, especially from the grooves in the wheel rims. I tried some solvents I had around and finally found that toulene seemed to work sort of. Any thoughts would be appreciated. This is like a 1961 Magna bandsaw.
Thanks, John McCrossen

I used a Dremel tool with brass wire brush. My son and a few hours and glue gone.

I used a wire brush that fit into my drill. Worked pretty good.
Enjoy a little sawdust therapy
