Site Unseen - The Great Shopsmith Gamble

Post by tmillie »

I just got a call from my uncle, said there's a shopsmith w/ attachments at an estate sale 30 miles away. I bought it for $300 without knowing anything except that it's clean.

Any guesses on the age, model and attachments???

I'm guessing a pre 1960 Mark V w/ scrool saw

I'm picking it up in 4 hours, I'll report back details of the new gem!!

If it has a SCROLL saw I am thinking it is much younger!

Are we supposed to guess what model you purchased?

What do I get if I win?

I am guessing you purchased a 510 with a band saw.

Let me know how close I am to being correct. Im thinking this thread could be better than the "where are you located in the country" thread.

Either that or it turned out to be a Total Shop instead of a SS 510.

I got it...it's a greenie, but w/ a goldie scroll saw included, 3/4 HP headstock, so it's pre-1960 right? I haven't unpacked her yet, I'll take a few pictures and we'll check this puppy out!

In the past 3 months I've acquired 3 Mark V's - at this rate, I'll have 15 in a year, that's not healthy :)

Pictures on the way! I'll get the serial number so we can find out the year!
