wood in hot area

Post by farley »

Tucson gets a little hot in the summer. What wood for outdoor furniture is best?

TIA

When we lived in Coolidge, I made some tables and benches from cedar. Held up very well with a BLO finish. light sanded and re-coated every two years.

After thirty years in Florida I'm convinced that the sun will eat up just about any wood you can think of. In fact it gets to just about any material. The anodizing on my pool enclosure screening aluminum is almost gone after thiry years in the sun.

For outside I use the new composite material. I believe Nick created some outdoor chairs using this material in a sawdust session.
