agreed. or vice versa. or left side and right side. that's what I was trying to say when I suggested putting the lid hinge axes and the big board hinges on opposite sides.JPG40504 wrote:The 2 access lids could be hinged at the back and the top hinged in the front. Even if top is opened past vertical, the lids would fall back into normal position when the top is moved back.

Well I FINALLY got to talk to the S-I-L. She wants it like her's, which has an open back. So that means 3 sides, and I'll put 2 lift up lids on it. One for trash and the other for recycled items.
I did find some plans, but not what I wanted. The dimensions were
height = 35"
Width = 18.5"
depth = 13.375"
I figure I just need to double the width to fit a trash and recycling container in it.

That's it! Find such an ad. Go buy it. Take it home, unwrap, assemble, whatever. Then sprinkle some sawdust all over it and present it to her.charlese wrote: Your Sister-in-law probably saw an ad in a catalog or one of the newspapers giving her the idea that these things exist (or could be built). .
THEN you will find out what she really wants.
