I attended the Shopsmith National Academy around 4 years ago and am sorry to say I did not complete one of my projects.
The project was for the Intermediate Furniture Making class, where we cut out the desk with two drawers. It is quite similar to the desk in the picture while at the Shopsmith site and clicking the link for Education. (Only the one in the picture has only one drawer.) We didn't assemble the desk in class, but were instructed to do so on our own at home.
I am hoping I can find someone who finished this desk who can help me with assembling the drawer guides and runners. I have them cut out, but am at a loss as to how they are to be assembled. Unfortunately, the instructions I was given do not explain this.
If anyone can help, I would be extremely grateful!

Welcome to the forum. I'm sure I can help you with your problem if you can post some pictures. Although I have never been to the Shopsmith academy I do have about 30 years experience as a cabinetmaker and have built a few thousand drawers in that time. Are the drawer runners wooden or mechanical? If they are mechanical what is the brand name.
Anxious to help

Thank you for offering help
The drawer guides and drawer runners are wood. There are two drawers with 2 drawer guides and 4 drawer runners. In the instructions, it states that the drawer guides should be face down above the drawers. "Drawer guides with groove should be face down in top groove of apron." In another instruction, it states to add a guide pin by using a #6 x 3/4" screw.
Unfortunately, I don't find any mention of where the drawer runners go. In another instruction, it states, "And the drawer guides should be face up in lower apron groove." I believe this is a typo, and actually what was meant is the "drawer runners" should be face up in the lower apron groove.
Possibly the drawer runners are installed below the drawers and the drawer guides are installed above the drawers. Then the screw will be installed on the top back of the drawer and runs in the guide.
The drawer guides and runners are at my friend's shop, but I will take photos of them to send along. I will probably be over there in the next few days.
I hope this message isn't too confusing and, again, thank you so much for your offer to help me.

Confusing???? NOOO! Your reply appears quite coherent to me. I cannot say the same regarding the 'instructions' you are quoting! Pix will help, but also take pix of 'where' the drawers will go so we may SEE the entire scope of the 'problem'.
