I just received my speed control assy Saturday, but I'm still waiting for the control sheave assy. Meanwhile, my machine is torn apart and unusable. I really hope that we get some information soon regarding current backorders and availability of parts. If parts won't be available from SS/RLF Shop, are there any other outlets besides ebay?

It is kind of ironic that this is the exact same problem Bob Folkerth faced when he bought SS 37 years ago.

If I had an order pending with Shopsmith I believe I would pick up the telephone and see if they answer. Who's knows you may be the next person to post a meaningful update for the rest of us. Personally it seems to me that witrh this forum and their website working the phones were not disconnected yesterday they may be ready to talk today. fjimphobbydad wrote:This is especially frustrating for those of us that recently picked up used Shopsmiths that need repair parts. I have been doing that the whole morning. Their phone lines are supposed to open at 9am Eastern. I called in periodically since then, and always received the "after-hours" message. Then I called in just before 10:30 and received the normal message. I was on hold for about 20 minutes when Lynn(? I'm terrible with names...) answered! She told me basically what we already heard, and said that they would continue their business under the RLF Shop name. She said that parts would still be available going forward, though they have been coming in slowly lately. I, for one, am very encouraged by the fact that they answered the phone and were able to check my backorder status. I wish RLF Shop the very best of luck in this difficult time!fjimp wrote:If I had an order pending with Shopsmith I believe I would pick up the telephone and see if they answer. Used Shopsmith Parts
I have been stockpiling used Shopsmith equipment since their retail stores closed in 92 for use when I repair or rebuild Shopsmith equipment. If you cannot obtain the item from Shopsmith first, then let me know.hobbydad wrote:This is especially frustrating for those of us that recently picked up used Shopsmiths that need repair parts. Pure speculation but I would not be surprised if the new "shopsmith" is more of a tool distributor than a tool manufacturer and will market a Taiwan private label version of the the smithy and harbor freight models. I expect that they will maintain parts for the current models for a number of years or until current parts inventory runs out.

CONTACT with Shopsmith.
I just spoke with a woman at Shopsmith on the customer service line. She answered the phone Shopsmith Customer Service. I asked and she said that there was no word on changing the web name or how they answer the phone.

Just in case, has anyone thought of backing this forum up and hosting it elsewhere?

The problem with backing up the forum and posting it elsewhere is that it belongs to Shopsmith, and it costs money to keep it running.
Now, if you want to start your own forum, you can do that. In fact, there are several Shopsmith forums already on the internet besides this one.
