What a great job, being testimony translator for the tree. Would we be using a splintered version of sign language? :D Would the tree be able to sue for damages if the court reporter took notes on "paper"? Guess we better start watching our language, you know, "the apple doesn't fall far from the tree", or a "chip of the old block", or as "as dumb as a log"; these terms might be deemed offensive.

I am willing to bet that this fellow that feels that trees have rights does not believe the human fetus does. Alec

I wonder if trees would qualify for 'HEALTH CARE'? A "right" is "right", after all:D

On a thread some where last fall, I said I would trust any 7 people from this forum, chosen at random, to run the country more than I trust the present bunch, ( from either party). The more I hear and read, the more I think I will stick to my statement!! I was just modifying a Will Rogers quote intended as a joke. As with much of his material, he was making the truth funny.

Almost makes me wish I was a lawyer (only almost). No worries about collecting my bills; all those non human entities and PolCor thinkers would surely qualify for government Legal Aid. I could represent the shrubs getting disfigured by the deer, the deer being stalked by the wolves, the wolves being sued by the trees for being humiliated by the wolves' territorial marker "spraying", the spraying material for being flushed away by the rain, the rain for causing the trees to get so big they were spiked by tree huggers to discourage logging, the tree huggers by the loggers whose saws got damaged, the loggers by a class action of trees and tree huggers for "murdering a tree and defiling a dead tree body". Opps, my unending chain of dream clients just came to an end as the loggers would have to pay all their own costs to defend themselves and their livelihood in court.
Are we seeing "Manifest Destiny" and the "Great American Dream" being replaced by Sue for Destiny and Dreams?"
Up here in the Great White North, it's "different, but the same". The sue and get mega dollars is not as prevalent, but the concept of It's my right and my responsibility as a citizen, is giving way to It's my right but your responsibility as a citizen. Instead of court ordered judgements, its legislative legislation that influences more on a day to day basis.
I hope I don't offend or abuse any of the trees I turn into housing and furnishings.

Wow, I suppose that's the most pressing issue. Never mind about the economy and jobs. Sure loved the comments, they say it all about the present administration.
