The contractor that came to remove a structual beam from my kitchen remodel when I asked him about the pipes said you can't do that. Sweat the fittings of cap the pipes, set the cabinets and install the fittings or else it will look like a rookie job.

I had beam 3 2x12 that hung from what is called a Z clip that basically held the valley in my roof. The contractor came in and set a Microlam beam on top the wall and used bucket brackets to hold the various rafters running over the old beam. Now my kitchen ceiling can be 12 inches higher which make my wife happy.

I asked him about the cabinet and he simply said if he were doing it he would do it the right way. Oh well I guess I will be breaking out the old torch later today. Did I say I HATE PLUMBING?

By the way thanks to everyone for all the great ideas. I was all set to try one or two of them when my son in law figured a way to cut them with the recip saw. But I really appreciate all the ideas.

Well we can't have that.

What if the Queen came over for dinner, and asked to see under your sink?

:D
