Right now the bar from Incra is drilled for the 2000 only. It would not be hard to clamp up and drill and tap for the V27- I decided not to when I realized the 180* swing. I had used it a couple of times on my regular TS so that is why I made my choice. I will try to photo this weekend. I have a bunch of Jessem stuff, but the Incra bar is superior. Just my opinion, though.mt

I purchased an Incra V27 miter gauge to use on my SS several months ago and then discovered that it would not fit the SS table slots. Knowing that Incra made a Miter 2000 for Shopsmith I called their corporate office to see if they had another miter bar that would work. I was told that the only Shopsmith compatible miter bar they manufactured was for the Miter 2000. I suggested that they consider making a SS compatible miter bar for the V27 but received no indication of a plan to do so. I ended up having the V27 miter bar machined to fit the Shopsmith table slots and am very satisfied with the outcome. The machining did not affect the Incra miter bar precision adjustment mechanism that is used to eliminate side-to-side miter bar looseness in the table slot. I think that these companies manufacturing after-market miter gauges are overlooking a significant potential market for their products by not offering a SS compatible miter bar.

I was browsing and found this post. Somehow I missed it when it was fresh. What I want to point out is that Incra, for one, seems to be paying attention to what we ask for.

They now produce at least three different miter products that are offered with Shopsmith compatible miter bars. I have the V120 and am very pleased with it. I also have an Incra miter bar that I have adapted for use with my dial indicator for table alignments. I need one more for use on the sliding cross-cut table.

I am also pleased that Shopsmith offers the Incra products (Shopsmith compatible) in their catalog. This association is a good thing.

Interesting idea. With the SS jig the conical disc does an excellent job of putting a new edge on the jointer knives, taking off far less than 1/64, so it seems as if it would work well on a miter bar.
I have an old Craftsman bar that needs a shave. I may try this out.

I bought my first Incra (Shopsmith sized) miter bar at the suggestion of Mark at Incra for a jig I was building. I needed something that was tighter fitting than Shopsmith's bars. I am hooked on them and keep wondering when Shopsmith will either replace their standard bar or sell the Incra bar as an upgrade. fjimp

The thought occurred to me today reading this thread that since I have a stash of Shopsmiths in parts that I could take one complete 500 table and mill out the miter gauge slots to standard size and use it (paint it purple or something) to use with any standard bar size accessories. I would probably want to align it to specific SS and code it to be generally used on that one.
I had already been planning to pick up a second 510 carriage and table assembly to convert one of my 500's and it could also be milled to standard bar width.
The 500 tables sell quite reasonably on Ebay. The 510's are higher but not all that high.
Hmmmmm. I'll have to give that some thoughting. :)
