He didn't have to premark it. Look at the screen capture below. He's got a stop on his miter gauge to butt the blank up to for consistent cuts, and a stop going forward to keep from cutting all the way through the blank. For consistency and production work, that's smart...

Screen captures can be easily done in a couple of ways.
The most available method is to use the "print screen" button on your keyboard. Simply depress this button when you have a screen you wish to capture. This will put the screen in your computer "memory." Then all you have to do is paste it into almost any photo editing program to edit/crop it ("control V" is the easiest way to paste it).
There is also software available that will do the same thing. A free trial program called Snag It will do it. And it can be edited/cropped within that program.

anmius,
thanks for the input. I use the <alt>-<prt screen> combo a lot to capture error messages and web pages. I just never seem to get a capture as clean as Tom's from any of the youtube videos.
I did buy an early version of SnagIt but it didn't work for what I wanted (grabbing frames out of the ATI media player). it didn't give me anything better than what was built into windows and I haven't tried it again since.

Now that is some band saw. I love that big table. Also notice that he is using a miter equipped with an Incra miter bar.

Ivan, sorry I didn't respond to you sooner, I missed reading your post. As the others said, I just pressed the PrtScr key to capture the screen image into the Clipboard, and then went to Corel PhotoPaint and created a new image from the clipboard, then used PhotoPaint to crop the image to the area desired.

Ivan,
Some of the differences COULD be in video card and display settings, but another thing could also be, I paused the video at the point I wanted to take the screen capture of, so I had a static image to capture. Were you doing that with your screen captures?
