Those are definitely NOT 500 stop rings. They are too wide.

OKAY. How wide do you think they should be?

Are they the correct diameter?

They fit loosely over the way bars, and would easily slide. And they are not a soft rubber. If you want I'll take a picture of the diameter.

Thanks but not necessary. If they fit on the way tubes, they would likely work. I did not know that there was more than one size. Every day we learn something new.

Mark 5/V-500 = 3/8" wide(distance from headstock to carriage when pushed against each other). Greenies and EARLY Goldies(????) did not use them.

???? Alec! Your early Goldie got a ring, OR a screw stop like a Greenie???

PER Alec's post # 30 on this thread, The early Goldies had a 3/8" ring. NO stop screw/carriage piercer like the Greenies/er10

The one on my 510 measures 1.35". This is after many years of use. I don't know what it was or what it is suppose to be. This one seems to work - but then there is no point of reference is there.

Is the Mark VII carriage cast iron or aluminum?? If it's cast iron, the use of a stop ring is MORE important since if the headstock should crash into the carriage from the drill press position, instead of the carriage breaking, as was the fate of mine prior to me owning it, the headstock casting would be the loser of the battle.

You say 3/8". That is really small by comparison to the 510.

I can vouch for that. My 500 looks like 3/8", much thinner than my 510.
