Has any one modified their 510 or 520 tables

I inherited a MarkV 500 last spring. Last night I installed the 520 upgrade kit package. On one side the main table ties into the extension table which is nicely supported by the two posts into the shopsmith. On the other side they provide a couple of floating tables with some adjustable legs. I was thinking that having an extension side table on both sides would be a lot nicer than playing with those legs. The floating tables have bosses which only need tapped and I can pick up an old extension table on Ebay cheap, which can be cannibalized for the legs. It looks to easy, it seems like others must have done it or it will not work for some reason I don't understand. Has anyone seen this tried, or know of a reason it will not work?

It IS a good idea, and although I have knot done it, it has been done. Several members on this site have talked about using an extension table on both ends at the same time.

I have tapped the holes out in the bottom of a floating table and mounted legs from an old extension table. Works fine. Legs can be had from Shopsmith or often found on Ebay.

The extension tables at both ends are very valuable. Some complain that the Shopsmith lacks table space. That is true if you allow it to be. You have solved the hard part by upgrading to the 520. I have added the extension table to the left side as you suggest but I kept the floaters. I believe you should give that some thought too.

My most used set up is with the right extension and two floaters. This makes for a lot of table space with added support available on both side of the blade. You see the floaters, left and right of the main, and the right extension here.

I use the left extension, simultaneous, for other functions - most often the router table. You can't see the router table in this picture but that is what is attached to the left.

If you don't already have one, you'll want to think about and outfeed table as well. There are many ways to accomplish this.

I have a few rollers for out feed. It works OK for ripping dimensional lumber, but it sucks for sheets of anything. I need to try and figure out what I can do with very limited space.

The other mounts like a floating table. However, when I use this one it normally is mounted off the left end of the Mark V supported by the telescopic legs.
