sun-yellowed plywood

Post by faithie999 »

i have some oak veneer plywood that has been exposed to sunlight in my workshop, and has acquired a yellow cast. is there a way to chemically remove that in a way that won't interfere with staining, or do i need to sand it?
thanks

Try sanding it. If you use a dark or medium dark stain, you'll probably be OK. In my experience, a clear coat or light stain won't be satisfactory. Of course, if the face veneer is thick enough, you may be able to sand it down to the original shade.
