Entertainment center/fire place installed.

Post by mbcabinetmaker »

Thought I would post some pictures of an entertainment center with an electric fireplace that I recently built and installed just yesterday for a customer. It is made from alder, distressed with a black over red rubbed finish.

That is great!

What is the process for doing the black over red rubbed effect?

Beautiful; [piece, Mark!!!!:D

I'm sure, you fully fulfilled your customer's desires, and they are pleased. Hope you were justly rewarded!

The finished color of that beautiful alder, is not to my taste, but I was not your customer! However, respect of the customer's desires is recognized.

Like it!!!! Nice work Mark. I know the other man's grass is always greener but I sure would like doing your line of work for a living. Office politics / personnel are really starting to get under my skin.

I hear ya, Mike. I love working with computers, but if I could make enough money in the woodworking/cabinetry business, I'd gladly leave the IT world behind.

The woodworking is great, but my favorite part of the finished color that you put on the entertainment center!

Mark, Very nice and it does look like it has been there for 100 years.

What kind of paint did you use for the finish?

The paint is lacquer. I did a thread last year on the process and will try to look it up tonight when I get time.
