Like the pens. How did you get them skinny in the middle?

I start my pens with ¾ inch sq stock. The pens you saw are 7mm slim pen kits. So starting with the ¾ inch stock I have plenty of room for shaping as I work the pen blank down to the slim kit bushing.

Welcome to the forum CV3. Nice looking pens and carvings. I do a bit of turning myself but never got into carving. I used to work in the San Fernando Valley at GM in Van Nuys but moved here to TN in 1990 and retired from GM 3 years ago. I lived in Palmdale when I was out there. I am now about 400 miles north of you here in TN.

if you have not discovered science fiction conventions as a sales venue, you might want to check out Mobicon.

I would expect your fantasy work to be welcome in the art show / auction.

you mentioned that you use the vertical drill press mode when you are making canes. could you say more on that, please?

I like TN. I would rather be up there than down here. I am ready to leave the hurricane seasons for other. I have a daughter in Clarksville TN.

Hi Everyone.
I am new to the forum. I thought I would sign up before next yr and add to all the other people on here. Both old and new. I have been lurking and observing. I really appriciate how everyone helps out everyone else. It doesn't matter how silly the question maybe (i.e. Have you tried the quill?) nobody gives fault to anyone else.. I hope to contribute and to continue gaining knowledge. Some people would make you pay for all the terrific ideas and advice offered here for free. Keep up the good work in the coming year.. I have to ask Heathicus. Did you put any kind of sealer on the cooler? How tall is the overall height?

Welcome.. Where are you from in Ohio? I used to live by Youngstown..
If you keep your eyes open to this forum you will gain a wealth of knowledge. I know I did when I started and I still do everyday. The old say: You learn something new everyday. Is sure true here.
