Stripped it out!!!!

Post by ozarkboy2 »

I haven't even used my ShopSmith 10ER yet. I love to Barter..... I did some trading to make room in the garage. And brought home a ShopSmith 10ER. Came with a few goodies. Noticed a few peices missing. Peices for the table saw, peices to use the lathe. And a Jig Saw.
Well the Jig Saw was locked tight. With some time to play in the garage. I had taken the Jig Saw apart. Inside it was full of nuts!!!!! Yes Nuts.... Like a Wilderbeast had stored snacks in this thing. Everything (NUTS) removed, and some rust removed. I was able to get his Jig Saw moving freely.
Made it to what I would think would be about the last step.... And over tightened the lower peice that holds the saw blade.... Yep I stripped it out.... Looks like pot metal or alluminum on top of a steel shaft.
What do I have to buy to get this going???????

Can you drill and tap the next larger size threaded hole into it (5/16-18)? If so, I can provide you with the 5/16-18 full dog allen set screw.

The "Head/Top" of the lower chuck actually is split open. It may have been like this when I got it, really don't know. Think it'll have to be replaced, looks like it may be alluminum,or maybe potmetal.
