Hi,

Just was thinking more about my extension rules, the Starrett is a deluxe model, made of maple and 25% thicker then the cheaper ones. I got it back in 1997 for I think about $18 as I recall. Got me to wondering if they are still an item you can buy. Started to look at google and noticed that lee valley came up. When I checked they are no longer available:

Found them at Hartville Tools or I thought I did. They have a page for them but no way to order them:

I then went to the Starrett web site and did a search and found nothing. Looks like they don't make these any more. So if you happen to be looking for one it looks like you will have to go used or looking in an antique store... or maybe a garage sale.

If you want to go with the Lufkin X46F it seems they can be had, here is an amazon listing:

Keep in mind these rules come in two flavors, one like the ones I've posted that read left to right on both sides and those that don't (see post 61 for the X46 model reads left to right on one side and right to left on the other.

Just in case some of you want to buy a magic mirror, make sure you go for the top of the line ego boost model, male version.

Here is an example of how it works. You go in the shop and look in the mirror sticking on your tool box and say:

"Mirror mirror on the tool box who is the best woodworker ever?"

Then the mirror replies:

"You are Ed R, you are."

Now that's a keeper.

The guards have all been so instructed. The "Doctor", bless his heart:rolleyes:, uttered something about four weeks with no lifting and she heard it. I think I am doomed to watch TV. Do you ever watch day time TV? It is terrible.

Glad your surgery is over. I know what you are saying about day time TV. It is not any better in lower Alabama. I was held in the house, against my will for 6 weeks last spring after my last hip replacement. There were spider webs on my SS when I got back to the shop. Take care heal fast.

Good to hear that all went well with your hospital visit. I don't envy you having to be restricted to watching TV as like others have said, there just isn't much worth watching and there is only so much going on with the forum. Guess you can see what's going on with other woodworking forums and think about what your next projects will be when you get the ok to get back to the shop. Looks like spring is getting closer to us here in TN as other than rain predicted for the next several days, it's at least getting into the upper 60's. Been a long cold winter for us. Make the best of your resting time.

It is just good to be up and around. I'm going to attempt to sneak into the shop and make a couple voltage and resistance measurements. Success will depend on how cranky the guard at the door is. If she hears that Mark V start up - I'm dead meat.
