Mark V 500 worktable rear trunnion frozen

I just disassembled the Mark V (1954) that I just bought tonight and the table was completely frozen. I used some PB Blaster and pried and hammered the mitre block back and forth until I got it off.Then the other side with the mounting ear I had to do the same thing. Once I got the bracket off I had to pound the pin out of it on the vice. Then I totally cleaned and polished everything and now it works like butter. It was many years of sitting and rust that caused it to be immovable.

Are the trunnion posts simply press-fit into the bushings? The carriage table is one item I've never needed to fully dismantle, may need to go that route if some serious soaking doesn't loosen the table any (off to try that now).

I assume so as both my Mark VII and Mark V I was able to use a punch and hammer the pins out of the table frame so that I could clean and polish them up real nice. Then it was just a reverse of that procedure to reinstall them.

What's your process for polishing the inner race of the trunnion itself? For other similar bearings, I've been wire wheeling off the gunk from the pin, then doing my best with a dowel and some steel wool on the race.

PUSH drill bits through starting with a smaller one that just goes through and step up one size at a time until proper size is reached. You may need to manually rotate slightly to get each one started.

I would be using something less aggressive than a wire wheel on the pins.
