Nope. I assume it has something to do with the French explorers???

Cut a lot of it.....after it had been bulldozed out of the hedge rows!
Makes superb fence posts. They may be crooked but they last forever and the steeples will not pull out. A bull will tear out the woven wire first. We used to stretch the fence with a tractor and never had to worry about the steeples letting loose.

Remember when every hedge in OK and MO had hedgeapple tress on them and LONG LONG ago we even used them in school projects with we were entertained with string and tin cans and thought we were
Thomas Edison. Even fished all day with bacon rhine and a string to catch crawfish and then just let them go. Now everything is complex even my tools. LOL

Im not Gene and I do not speak french. but one of my hobbies is bow making and Bois d' arc is along with yew one of the prefered wood in bow making.

I remember throwing those apples. They were HARD!
I was 18 years old before I realized crawfish were good to eat. Found that out in N.O. Now I love 'em.

Great Bow and Knife, You are a true artist. Gene I know what you mean on hard. Also my DAD still cannot believe you eat Crawdads as we called them and you don't just bait troutlines with them or fish for catfish. He still won't eat any. I guess I was around 22 and the railroad moved me to Shreveport with a signal gang and I got introduced to crawfish as food. I still like them to this day and miss the N.O. and La food.

Thanks for the replies, but i've have a disclosure to make. I'm no expert surgery is my field. nevertheless i've been lurking for awhile and not fell worthy of contributing . You guys are a bad influence -my wife- I did get a shopsmith.

BTW I also love crawdads, will post a pic latter
