warm and fuzzy
Well don't this just make me all warm and fuzzy. I watched a sawdust session with Nick on it and he was turning a pen on the PowerStation and I just being a newbie didn't know what a tailstock was or that a chuck was needed on the headstock or whatever it's called, so I requested some information from SS and was told they had no idea what Nick did to turn a pen. Hmmm now SS wants us to spend $3000 more on a new head.. well if they can't tell me how to add the stuff to the powerstand to make it into a small lathe , then I'm not sure I would spend anymore money on anymore SS stuff, in fact i'm thinking I will sell the Powerstand , bandsaw , and planer and buy individual pieces. I'm sure I'm not the only disgruntled SS owner. Eventho I don't posess the hallowed SS MarkV , I was really looking forward to doing some turning. I suppose I could trade my SS Powerstation , bandsaw, and Jointer so a lathe... so this will probably be my last post , if the Admin has the testicles(as that is the medical term) to let it be posted. Sorry folks but if they can't support their equipment it is what it is. You might think about posting the states where people can get support for the future suckers that think they may want to buy something SS sales. I support computers to people that are starting out it might be nice if SSs owners did the same for newbies.

Actually you were requesting something else! What Nick did is not the 'normal' use of the power station. Unless(and I doubt they have) they have seen that sawdust session, they would be totally confused by what you are requesting.
FWIW, you need a tailstock, dead/live tailstock center, tool rest, drill chuck(maybe) and a pen arbor. If the pen arbor fits the 5/8" shaft, you do not need the drill chuck. You would also need to 'fabricate' the tool rest 'holder' as described on the blackboard of the sawdust session.
If you do not already have the mark 5V parts it may be impractical to try this. All those items are commonly on EB. To purchase them new would probably be too costly. However often the new price is less than the EB price!
I hate to see you upset about this! Understand the cs folks can only respond to 'typical' requests. Yours ain't 'typical'!

I guess my request is kinda hard. It's like buying a car and asking if theres a spare tire in the trunk. I'm sure car salesmen don't look in the trunk very often so maybe they too would be stuck for an answer, even tho I did point out the Sawdust session. In my business customer support means a little more to me than sending a reply to my email in less than 2 minutes saying I have no idea. But we do live in a time where Democrats rule... so I guess I got what I deserved.
I'm also in the tech field, so coming into a low-tech hobby has been interesting at times.bigeddy wrote:I guess my request is kinda hard. I think you deserved more, but do I understand you were communicating by e-mail? A direct conversation(phone) would I am sure be more productive. An e-mail is limited to the initial info, and there is no opportunity for 'dialogue'!bigeddy wrote:I guess my request is kinda hard. Try again with a live body - at least they are located 'local' to the 'factory'! Call early enough so that the que might be empty!
If you need $ info for those 'parts', holler!

I really appreciate the information and sorry that im so gloomy. I have made up my mind and i have listed my PowerStation , Bandsaw and Jointer on craigslist. I have ADHD and really was hoping that working with wood could help me out in that area as it would give me something to focus on, I have 200 bf of black walnut and 200 bf of spaulted oak that I forgot to list on craigslist. I'll have to check out and see what it is worth, the wood has been in a storage unit for 10 years. I was really looking forward to doing something with all that wood. I guess I could bandsaw it all up for pen stock before I sell my bandsaw... that would keep me in wood should I ever get a lathe... thanks again for being patient. also sorry but I did try calling them for about 2 weeks and the time zones are different and was never able to connect to them.JPG40504 wrote:I think you deserved more, but do I understand you were communicating by e-mail?
