I just acquired a Shopsmith Greenie from a friend, whose dad was a wonderful craftsman that built many fine projects with it. It has been sitting for many years, but seems to work quite well. I've been cleaning and reading as much as I can about its care and feeding! I'm glad I found this forum, as it seems to answer many of the questions I have had about the Greenie.
It came with the usual accessories (jigsaw, planer, bandsaw, lathe accessories), but also came with an air compressor. Has anyone used these, and how well do they work? I think it originally was used with a spray gun (which he didn't have anymore), but I was wondering if it builds up reasonable pressure to fill auto tires, etc.?

There were two versions. I assume you have the older diaphram version. It would probably work best with a tank for tire inflation. (it originally came with a 'tire inflator').georgerud wrote:I just acquired a Shopsmith Greenie from a friend, whose dad was a wonderful craftsman that built many fine projects with it. I got a Greenie now to go with my 10ER
Good morning to this group. I just found this group today after looking online to find out some info about a Greenie s/n: 3113149 I bought this weekend for $100.00. I think I got a good deal for it even though it was not working when I bought it. I got it home, plugged it in and it popped the breaker. It tried to run but was tight so I did some lubrication of anything that moved and let it sit overnight in the garage and the next day it ran. I am starting the cleaning process to figure out just what I have here. I got some pieces with it, drill chuck, sanding disc, turning centers, a set of turning tools and a grinding wheel. The guy that had it used it to sharpen his axe. That was all he used it for. It joins my 10ER I got from my uncle last fall that I am still working on also. Are there any users on here from the Minnesota area? I am eager to learn more about this wonderful machine.
